History of the temple
What makes this temple unique is that there is no visible idol of the goddess. Instead, devotees worship a Shri Yantra placed over a sacred kund, believed to be the very spot where Goddess Kali disappeared into the earth after slaying the demon Raktbeej.
Significance of the temple
The deity’s idol remains hidden throughout the year and is revealed only during Navratri, when it is brought out for a midnight worship on Ashtami performed by the temple’s chief priests. Kalimath is also rare because devotees worship the divine trinity of feminine energies—Goddess Kali, Goddess Lakshmi, and Goddess Saraswati—together at one sacred place, symbolizing power, prosperity, and wisdom united.
