Why Is Kashi Chosen for Pitru Shanti Puja?
Kashi is revered as one of Hinduism's most sacred pilgrimage cities and is traditionally associated with liberation. Performing ancestral prayers here adds a deeply spiritual observance. On this auspicious day, Pitru Dosha Shanti Mahapuja will be performed in Kashi. On the first day, learned priests will begin the rituals by taking a Sankalp in your name and Gotra. The importance of Shraddha and ancestral offerings is also described in the Garuda Purana, which gives detailed guidance on offerings made to the Pitrus and the traditional process of honouring them.
Why Is Pitru Paksha the Most Important Time for Pitru Shanti Puja?
Pitru Paksha is traditionally considered the most significant annual period for honoring ancestors. During this sacred fortnight, descendants perform Shradh, Tarpan and other ancestral offerings as an expression of remembrance, gratitude and duty towards their Pitrus.
Performed on the sacred banks of Ganga ghat in Gaya, the Anushthan includes Pitru shanti mahapuja & Ganaga aarti, creating an extended period of remembrance and devotion for your ancestors. Through Poojakaro, participate in this Pitru Paksh at Kashi Tirth during Pitru Paksha and seek the blessings of your Pitrus for peace, well-being and prosperity.

Kashi city, which is also called the city of salvation, is considered the ultimate pilgrimage for Pitru peace and attaining salvation. It is a belief that whoever takes their last breath in Kashi, attains salvation. For this reason, many devotees like to reside here in their final days. Pisach Mochan Kund located in Kashi is especially famous for Pitru Dosha Shanti. It is also mentioned in Garuda Purana and Kashi Khand, where it is stated that performing Pind-daan, Tarpan, and Pitru Dosha removal puja at this kund fulfills the unfulfilled desires of ancestors and they attain peace and liberation. The history of Pisach Mochan Kund is very ancient. It is said that this pilgrimage site existed even before the descent of the Ganga. This kund is associated with the story of a Brahmin, who became a Pisach (demon) due to his deeds. Under the guidance of Maharishi Valmiki, he worshipped Kapardeshwar Mahadev and bathed in the kund to get liberation. Since then, this place became famous by the name of Pisach Mochan. Meanwhile Assi Ghat, Kashi, which is also called Varanasi or Banaras, is situated on the banks of the holy Ganga and Assi Ghat is one of its most revered spiritual sites. Pilgrims coming from the country and abroad come here to take a holy bath in the Ganga. They believe that this bath washes away sins and opens the path to salvation. It is said that taking a bath on auspicious occasions, participating in Ganga Aarti, and praying at Assi Ghat brings blessings of health, prosperity, and spiritual growth and also ancestors attain peace.
