Located on the banks of the Lakhundar River, approximately 100 km from the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, lies Maa Baglamukhi Dham. Revered as the primal energy (Adya Shakti) of Mrityunjaya Shiva, the shrine features a self-manifested (Swayambhu) idol dating back 5,000 years, as documented in the Tantric text Pran Toshini. According to ancient lore, when a catastrophic cosmic storm threatened the universe during Satyayuga, Lord Vishnu performed intense penance at Haridra Sarovar in the Saurashtra region. Pleased by his devotion, Mother Baglamukhi manifested on Chaturdashi Tithi and neutralized the devastating storm to protect the cosmos. Later, during the Mahabharata era, Lord Krishna instructed the Pandavas to worship Maa Baglamukhi during their period of severe crisis. Following his guidance, they performed sacred worship at this very spot, successfully overcoming all afflictions and regaining their lost empire.
